I'll be sharing some of my own thoughts on these topics. And we will also hear from some great guests from around the world who bring their unique experience and perspectives. Welcome to another episode of Coaching in Conversation. For this episode, we're taking a different approach. Today, you'll hear from Coach Advancement alumni, Kim Husa, and her journey of turning coaching from a hobby into a career. Kim has a background in chemical engineering, and now through her coaching, she supports female executives in male dominated industries. Helping them exceed their career goals and gain more confidence along the way. She also supports entrepreneurs in the renewable energy and circular economy sectors to help ensure that the new technologies they are developing can be deployed as quickly as possible to help save our planet. We hope you enjoy her story. My name is Kim Joester and I'm living in The Hague. In the Netherlands, and I'm originally from South Africa, I recently obtained my ACC coaching credentials. And my coaching niche is focusing in two areas. One is supporting female executives in male dominated industry. To help them exceed their career goals and gain more confidence along the way. And the other one is supporting entrepreneurs in the renewable energy and circular economy sectors, as I'm passionate about ensuring that the new technologies that they're developing needs to. Be deployed as quickly as possible to help us save our planet. And in case you think that I have some rather strange niches, that's because I'm a chemical engineer myself and I've worked in male dominated industry for more than 25 years. I enrolled in the science and art coaching in the coach advancement program in 2021, seeing it as an interim solution for improving my coaching whilst finding my next big corporate role. And at that point in time, I really saw coaching as a lovely hobby. Soon after the enrollment, life threw me some rather big curveballs, and that was even before module one started on the training. And so during the training, it actually became my lifeline, especially listening to Tracy's calm voice and just soaking up all her wisdom on how to improve my coaching skills. Abilities. And I couldn't have asked for a better cohort of peer coaches. And I was eternally grateful that Tracy is really good at keeping her cohorts small. And this actually led me to, at the start of module three, make several rather big life changing decisions, including to become a career coach. My best development took place during the peer coaching practice sessions during the training and I maintained a good friendship with most of the cohorts from my peers and did several peer coaching sessions with them after the training and in particular maintained a peer coaching practice. Almost on a weekly basis with one of the alumni, I still do that today. And that was a really big help for me to help figure out how to set up my coaching practice, how to actually establish my niche. And then even with coaching skills, setting, improving my goal setting skills, and especially helping me to resist becoming the rescuer because my topics, of course, I have a lot of experience in. So if my clients are stuck with. Knowing where to go, it's so tempting to want to rescue them, but the biggest benefit of all was actually through this peer coaching, I managed to get my a hundred hours of coaching within a year. I'm grateful for all the support I received from Coaching Advancements as it formed a very, very strong foundation for me to build upon. And I will continue to want to develop myself as a coach because I want to be the best partner for my clients. And my vision is also to. Be a highly sought after coach, and you cannot do that without setting yourself challenging development goals and business goals. And I would say coaching advancements to date has played a really big role in helping my development. I have a vision and that is that I will become a highly sought after coach. That means that to become a really highly sought after coach, I need to be a well trusted partner to my clients and I need to be able to also make sure that I have enough time to be that for them. So I need to be very smart about how many clients I take on and limit that going forward. But also continue to improve my coaching ability so that they can benefit more from that.
